I am done cheating, it comes with wahala, says Davido

Nigerian Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, says he has turned a new leaf and is no longer interested in cheating scandals or the chaos that comes with them.

David Adeleke, who has remained one of the most influential voices in Africa’s music industry, has had a history of public controversies surrounding his relationships. Even after tying the knot with his longtime partner, Chioma Rowland, in 2023, rumours of infidelity continued to trail the singer.

During the interview, Davido referenced his family’s complex relationship dynamics, including those of his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, to stress that wealth does not necessarily guarantee peace at home.

“My uncle that’s a governor has two wives. Another of my uncles said that all his wives lived with him, and they played with each other. But upon all the money, there’s still wahala. I’m not cheating again. And I can’t have another wife,” he said.

Davido and Chioma, who began their relationship while studying at Babcock University, have weathered many personal storms together — including the heartbreaking loss of their son, Ifeanyi, in 2022. Despite the tragedy and media scrutiny, the couple have remained united, with Davido often referring to Chioma as “his rock.”

While the singer is no stranger to headlines, his declaration marks a notable shift in public attitude — from the flamboyant “Omo Baba Olowo” lifestyle to a more reflective tone, perhaps signalling a new chapter in both his music and personal life.
